Surf the Net Using your TV

Do you think it is possible to surf the net even if you have no computer at home? I would have laughed if I hear this question but laugh no more as Smart brings SmartBro Surf TV.

According to the survey conducted by SMART, Filipinos love the Internet. We love to watch videos on the net, upload pictures and we are really totally addicted to social networking sites like Freindster and Facebook. But not all Filipinos have computer at home but at least almost 90% of Filipino homes have television. So that is why they come up with their latest technology, the SmartBro Surf TV.

The Smart Bro SurfTV kit comes with a top box, keyboard, mouse, Smart Bro Prepaid Plug-It and P100 of free internet use for only P4500. It is very easy to install as you just have to connect the SmartBro SurfTV set up box to your TV using RCA cables and then plug the power adaptor, keyboard and mouse and you’re online. You can check your email, update your status in Facebook and even upload pictures and videos. Coolness!

Our Dream Wedding

As I was browsing the mails that I received in my Inbox, I got really interested about the email that I received from my yahoo groups where the moderator shared one of those romantic destination weddings of a former local artist who got married to his boy friend who is a pastor.

I have always dreamed of having a beach wedding. As hubby and I both love the beach, getting married in one of our favorite place would really be great. If only budget is not a problem, I would have gotten married in one of the romantic resorts of Karisma Hotels.

What I like about the wedding packages that they offer is that they will really guarantee a very romantic and one of a kind wedding. Imagine having the ceremony in one of their beach-front resorts, under the gazebo with the sand, sun and ocean as our background. Their package even comes with a professional wedding planner and a honeymoon suite so everything is really covered for us.

Who knows, maybe someday, we can have the wedding of our dreams for our renewal of vows.

Biggest Fear

What is your biggest fear? If you will ask me, my greatest fear is that I will leave my family especially my kids and I won’t be there to guide them and make sure that they are in good and stable condition.

I have an aunt who died from cancer at a very young age and she left her two kids and one of them is still going to school. Good thing our relatives and friends all contributed to send his youngest son to school so he can finish college. Now, both her kids were able to finish college and both have good jobs also.

I know I will always have that fear in me since I am a mother too. So to have peace of mind, I made sure that I have a life insurance policy so I will be sure that my children will be covered no matter what happen to me and my husband.

No parents would ever want anything to happen to their kids. And if only I can stay as long as I want here on earth so I will forever be with my kids to watch and guide them but that is not possible, so I guess being insured is one way to secure my children’s future.

AI, CSI, House, etc

Because B already learns to enjoy other activities aside from watching TV, I get to have my time and I don’t have to compete with her just to watch my favorite TV series. She also now understands the concept of sharing and so she will let us have our turn in watching.

I am glad that I get to watch some of my favorite TV shows again. Just like this week, I was able to catch the American Idol, House MD and the new season of CSI Vegas.

I got really excited when I saw CSI on AXN as I was able to catch the first episode for the newest season and guess who is back. Jorja Fox is back to replace Riley (though I have to watch the last few episodes of the previous season because I have no idea why they decided to remove the character of Riley in the show). The first episode is so intriguing because it is about the death of a famous starlet. They were able to catch the real killer and put him to jail and the episode ended with another intriguing question from Rey, the newest CSI who just got promoted to CSI 2.

Now I wonder will Grissom ever come back to the show even if just for a few episodes just like Jorja Fox.

Sickies in the house

I have been taking double dose of ascorbic acid everyday to protect me against the cough and cold virus but I guess I am really prone to this virus as I have cough and colds now.

My cough is even worse that I can’t get a decent sleep because of it. Every hour, I will wake up because my throat feels really irritated. I guess because I don’t get to have enough sleep, I am having acne breakouts at the same that if only I am not pregnant, I would have taken vitamin for acne to treat my acne (my sister is taking this acne vitamins and since then, she now has flawless, smooth skin).

I haven’t taken any medications though for my cough and colds. I am just trying to have water and vitamin C therapy as I am really trying to avoid antibiotics because I am pregnant. I hope that soon this will go away as it is really difficult to get some decent sleep with my size (my tummy is so big now) and it really doesn’t help that I have to wake up every hour because of my cough.

Hubby's Labor of Love

This is our five year old tv stand. Don’t you think we need to look for newer tv stands like the sleek and slim tv stands from Stands and Mounts store?

But you know, this tv stand has a sentimental value to us as a couple because it is my husband’s labor of love. We were just newly married that time and hubby and I moved in to our new nest and we don’t have enough money to buy for all the furniture and appliances that we will need for our house so hubby decided to make a tv stand instead of buying so we can save. And ever since, this is what we have been using.

But our house is so cramped now with all of B’s toys and stuffs and with the coming of the new baby, we will surely need a lot of space to give room for the baby things that we will need like crib, stroller, walker and the like. So hubby is really looking at getting an LCD TV and a tv stand too.

But I don’t think we will throw this work of love of hubby. We might just move it in our spare room upstairs as this is one of the things that we treasure as a couple.

The Manila Ocean Park

Have you been to the Manila Ocean Park? It is actually my second time here as B’s former school and her current school went here for a field trip.

I must admit that I had fun too with our visit here. Of course, it is really priceless seeing how much my daughter had fun but I can’t help but feel amaze too at how magnificent underwater life is.

They have a new attraction now which is the Mermaid Show and the Glass Bottom Boat Ride.

The Glass Bottom Boat Ride takes you to a 15 minute ride where you get a view from the top of the Oceanarium. Our guide also told us that we can see the actual size of the sea creatures while seeing it from the glass bottom of the boat because the view from the Oceanarium is a bit magnified because of the thickness of the aquarium.

The second newest attraction at the Manila Ocean Park is the Mermaid Show. We were late for the show and so we were only able to catch half of it but it was a very unique show as synchronize swimmers dressed in mermaid performed while inside the aquarium with the fishes, the sting rays and the other sea creatures as their background.

I was even really surprised because a lot of shops and restaurants are already opened not like when we first came here. A trip to the Manila Ocean Park is really a must and will be a sure hit especially if you have kids who loves animals, just like my B.

Medical Tourism

Have you heard about medical tourism? This is one of the tourism section that our country is exploring because more and more patients from abroad are coming here for all kinds of medical procedures because we have competent and experienced physicians and surgeons and it is relatively cheaper to have a medical procedure done here than in other countries.

A lot of our hospitals like St. Luke’s, Makati Medical and the others are even promoting medical tourism and they are promoting their medical services to potential clients abroad to attract customers.

For those out of the country, they need not worry about the logistics of this kind of medical travel as there are institutions like Health Travel Guides who can help them with all the aspects of their medical travel. From booking the air and hotel arrangements, to recommending physicians and hospitals where you can have your medical procedure, to scheduling doctor consultations and many more. Plus they even have a licensed physician whom you can contact via phone or email to answer all your medical concerns.

Indeed medical tourism is really a booming business.

Lesson Learned

Everything is gone! Yes, all my important files are gone because my 320 GB external hard disk suddenly just stops working. I was still able to use it the other week and I even loaded it with the new movie series that I downloaded. It is place inside my bag which I accidentally dropped and when I tried plugging it to my PC, it can no longer be detected. The only consolation that I have is that at least our collection of pictures which we have accumulated through the years is safe because hubby was able to burn it to DVD.

I have been hearing about online backup and how important it is to have one but I never really paid too much attention to it until now. Now I realize if only I have an online backup, no matter what happens to the hardware of my PC or to my external devices, I need not worry since I can easily recover all my files from my online backup. What is good about this service also is that I can even set it to automatically do the backup so even if I forgot to do it because of my busy schedule, my files will still be backed up automatically.

I guess I should just charge this to experience and I better read reviews now of online backup and subscribe to this service immediately.

Manila Bay Cruise with RealShip Corp

My daughter had their filed trip last Saturday and one of the highlights of the trip was a yacht ride along Manila Bay.

The school rented the yacht from RealShip Corporation. They offer yacht rental for private parties, corporate events, product launches, voyage charter, dinner for two or even a romantic wedding proposal.
The yacht that we rode last Saturday was the M/Y Shanti which is called the Party Yacht of RealShip. It is a 70ft yacht with a large main deck for open air parties, an aircon saloon, and three cabins.
It is a first for my family to ride a yacht and I am glad that my daughter’s school included this in their itinerary for their field trip as it was the most relaxing activity to end the day. B really had fun while on board the yacht as she plays with her friends and enjoy the view of Manila.

RealShip Corporation is located at CCP Complex Bay Terminal, Roxas Blvd., Manila, Philippines. You can contact them at (632) 832-5424 / (632) 994-0429 or email them at info@realshipcorp.com for more details about the services that they offer.

Plans for the Holy Week

Where to go this Holy week? Since Holy week is one of the longest weekends, some of my friends are actually planning for an out of town during this long weekend.

We actually don’t have plans yet for the Holy Week. The oldies in our family said that it is time to stop from our busy schedule and reflect on our lives and just pray and fast as this is a hold day so most of the time we ended up just staying at home and doing some Holy Week traditions like doing the Visita Iglesia, Caridad, watching the 7 last words and the like.

My kumareng Peachy inquired at Shangri-La Hotel in Cebu since this is the best place if you want a quiet and secluded beach because most of the beaches and resorts are jam packed during the holy week. But according to Peachy, there is an additional of P3000 surcharge during the Holy Week because it is peak season. And I am pretty sure that airfare prices will sky rocket too so there is no way that we can afford an out of town vacation next month since we are also planning on doing investment in gold coins so we really need to cut on our expenses so we can pursue this investment option.

Amyways we already have a family outing scheduled for May so we can save another trip at the beach maybe after I give birth.

Pimple Free

My sister has been teasing me for days now because of my acne problem. You see, I used to have no problems with pimples and acne before when I was still taking birth-control pills. But ever since I stopped since we want to have our second child, my pimples and acne all came popping out.

My sister has acne problems too so now that I am in the same boat as she is, she can’t help but tease me all the time because I used to tease her always when I still have a smooth skin. LOL.

I can’t really take any acne treatment for now because it is not recommended and is not safe for pregnant women like me but I vow that I will really try exposed skin care treatment as soon as I give birth to get rid of my acne problems. And to stop my sister from teasing me, we agreed that we will try this treatment at the same time so we will both have soft and pimple free skin. LOL.

TGIF – I Wish!!

I slept late last night since I want to finish a lot of my pending work but I only lasted until 1 AM. I was really tempted not to get out of bed today as it is a holiday for hubby and my daughter is off from school too because of Chinese New Year.

I woke up around 6 AM and I figured I can still sleep until 6:30 AM since hubby will drive me to work anyways so I don’t have to hurry. When I woke up again, it is already 6:40 AM. Again, I was thinking twice if I should go to work or not. But I figured I have a lot of pending work to do so I better get out of bed and prepare for work. I still have eye bags because of staying up late for three days now. Thank goodness that I have the best eye cream so I don’t look like a zombie in the office today. LOL.

It is Monday once again. Back to work, back to reality. I know it is just the start of the week but I really can’t wait for Friday to come!!

Tying the Knot

Someone I know will be tying the knot this coming May at Acuatico Beach resort.

I love this resort in San Juan, Batangas. I haven’t actually been here since their rates are steep compared to the other resorts within the stretch of San Juan so when I learned that we will be attending a wedding here (all expenses paid – accommodation plus food and drinks for an overnight stay), I got really excited.

So as early as now I have been looking for the best under eye cream so even though I have a very big baby bump already by that time, at least my face will look good in pictures. LOL (how vain).

This will be our family summer outing too because all of us will be present for this big event. I don’t want to give more details yet as the couple is still ironing out some details of the wedding yet but for sure I will post about the wedding and our stay in Acuatico Beach resort after the wedding.

Pictures snagged from Beach Resort Finder and Trip Advisor website.

Big C

I was once asked by a friend on what my biggest fear is. One of my fears is getting the Big C. I can’t help but fear about cancer because someone close to my heart died of cancer a few years back. And I know a lot of my close friends who knows somebody and who have relatives who died of cancer too so I can’t help but feel paranoid about this deadly disease.

I actually don’t know how I will feel if my doctor tells me that I have malignant Mesothelioma or if someone close to me has Cancer. When I heard of the news that my aunt only has six months to live, I felt really numb, I don’t know what to feel. I was actually in denial and I was wishing that it is all a bad dream and when I wake up, everything will be okay.

But the fact is, cancer should be something that we should be scared of. So what do we do to prevent it? I guess living a healthy lifestyle is the answer and a strong faith in God that there is a reason for everything.

Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2010

Every year, we always plan to check out the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival that is held at Subic but we always end up not going since the events always start early and hubby doesn’t want to go through all that trouble especially we have a toddler in tow.

When we went to Subic a few weeks ago, I saw their poster along the highway but of course, there is no way that we can attend this year’s festival again as I am pregnant. Sweets

If only I am not pregnant, I would be ordering phentermine diet pill online as I have been really craving for sweets lately.

Posted by Picasa

I guess since I am already on my second trimester, my appetite has already increased and my diet and preference for food has change. During my first trimester, I still experience morning sickness and I hate eating sweets. If I eat even just one chocolate cookie, I will really feel sick the whole day and I will really feel bloated unlike my first pregnancy where I really crave for sweets starting from the first trimester.

But I guess this is good as I was able to cut down on my sugar intake. During my first pregnancy, my doctor has to monitor my sugar level as I told her that I can consume one bar of chocolate in one sitting so I am happy that I don’t have the same problem now.

I am already passed the first half of my pregnancy and I am really praying that everything will be ok until my full term.

Shopping & Food Tripping in Binondo

Last night we went to Binondo with my good friend Peachy and her family, Gelo, Joaqui and Dom for dinner and some charms and talisman shopping. It will be Chinese New year tomorrow and talismans and lucky charms has been a hot topic in Twitter that my kumareng Peachy and I decided to troop down to Binondo for some shopping and food tripping. (Hubby actually took a lot of photos of us while we are shopping but I hate my adult acne as all of them are showing in the picture so I’d rather not post them. LOL.)

Our friends went crazy as they asked Peachy to buy talismans for them and for their family too. Peachy was hording all the talisman that she can find in Binondo for Kathy and Joy and for her and her family and I think she will be going back to Binondo again this Sunday for more shopping.

Positive thinking girls!! Hope this talismans will really bring us good luck and more moolah. LOL

McDelivery

I love home delivery and one of my favorite places that I usually order is McDonalds. If we’re too lazy to prepare something for breakfast, I just need to dial 8-MCDO or use their online ordering system and our breakfast is served in 30 minutes. What I love about McDo is they are even affiliated with Citibank’s mobile payment system so I can just pay my bill with just one text and it will be charge to my Citibank account.

But don’t you hate it sometimes when you only have a small order and they won’t deliver unless you meet their minimum or they will deliver your order but there is a 10% delivery fee. That is why when I received this email from McDo today, I was one happy customer.

McDonalds just implemented their “No minimum order Policy” and no 10% delivery fee. No matter how big or small your order is, they will just charge a fix delivery rate of just P40. How cool is that. Now I am already thinking on what my breakfast order will be for tomorrow. Or better yet, since I will be working late tonight, I might as well order something for my midnight snack. Hey, I am pregnant and I have all the reason to eat, eat and eat. LOL.

I Heart My Iphone

When I was still single, gadget is one of the top things that I spend my money to. I always want the latest and the high-tech gadgets that are out in the market. Even if I my phone is just a few months old, I don’t think twice if I will sell it even at a much depreciated price so I can buy the latest cell phone that is available. But things change when I became a mom. Of course, my priorities for my spending changes and I have to let go of my love for gadgets.

But I think mobile phones are a necessity also and it is one of the things that is very important especially for those with families because it is our line of communication. So when my old and obsolete phone gave up on me, I quickly check the site of Mobile Fun to look for the best mobile phone that I can get because I know it will take years again before I can buy a new phone.

What I like about Mobile Fun is that they have wide selection of mobile phones to choose from. I was choosing between the Nokia E71 and the Apple Iphone and the reviews that I read from Mobile Fun helped me in choosing which phone to buy. And they don’t just sell mobile phones but they also have iphone accessories, SIM, even games and ring tones.

I end up buying two Iphone – one for me and one for my husband. My husband was so happy with my gift for him that he bought an iphone case for our new mobile phones. I must say that I am happy that I bought an Iphone and I think this is something that I can definitely use for years. What I love about it is that it has a lot of cool features. It has wifi capability so I can do mobile Internet. My husband loaded movies and mp3s and I just bought an iphone dock and I can use it to listen to music in the office. I can also use it to play games and Apple has a lot of cool applications that I can easily download and install.

All I can say now is that I am thankful for Mobile Fun because it really is a big help in getting the mobile phone that I am so enjoying right now.

Juan's Fare Share: 50% Discount from Cebu Pacific

I can’t believe that Cebu Pacific is having another seat sale. Tempting, very, very tempting.

They are offering 50% discount on all their domestic and international destinations for bookings made until tomorrow, February 8, 2010. Travel period is from May 1 – July 31, 2010. To redeem the offer, just select the promo seats and type the word “JUAN” upon checkout. The booking is non-refundable and the 50% discount is not applicable to government taxes and fees.

I tried booking for Manila – Tagbilaran flights and Manila – Hong Kong flights and the airfare is really affordable. But since I am due to give birth on July 2, I don’t think I will be able to travel from May – July and even if I can, I don’t think my OB or the airlines won’t allow me. LOL.

So I have to pass for this promo again and I am sure more promos will be coming soon. Hubby wants to take us to Florida Keys vacation rentals after I give birth but I told him that I don’t want to bring our newborn to long travels that soon. An out of town (like a Bohol vacation) or an Asian trip (like Hong Kong or Singapore) might be something that we can consider for this year so I will just wait for Cebu Pacific promos again and hopefully by the time there is a seat sale on our preferred date, we already have the budget to pay for the airline tickets. LOL.

Anniv Celebration

As I mentioned in my previous blog, my group of friends from high school celebrated our anniversary today and we are planning for a grand anniversary celebration. We met up last Friday to talk about our plans.

We have three options to choose from and two out of the three options are activities where we can bring the kiddies. I can’t believe that we are really growing (well, I did not mean to say that we are growing in weight. LOL. But I think after I give birth, I will really need fat burner to help me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight). What I mean is that our group is really growing in number because majority of us are all married and have kids already so mommies like me can’t help but suggests activities where we can enjoy while we can bring our husband’s and kids too.

They haven’t sent the details yet to all the Lynx members so the voting on which option to choose for our anniversary celebration hasn’t started yet. But as early as now, I am excited already and whatever activity wins, I am sure it will be lots of fun because that’s what Lynx are – fun and crazy.

ArtsCow 8"x10" Stretched Canvas

Artscow is having another promo again and this time, they are offering their 8” x 9” inches framed canvass for just $9.99 with free shipping. To redeem this offer, all you have to do is enter this Coupon Code:

Coupon Code: 8X10STRCVS
Expiration: 02/18/2010

I have received my first two albums that I created from Artscow and I must say I am happy with it. It is really very affordable and the quality is really good. Though it took them three weeks before I was able to receive my album.

I still have a lot of pictures of B that I need to put in a photo book like B’s second to fourth birthday party. I just started uploading the pictures but my Internet really sucks (how I wish I have Bell internet so I can upload the pictures faster and start working on the photo book). I still have coupon codes that I can use to claim free photo books so I am hoping I can finish the layout before the coupon code expires so I only have to pay for the shipping which is really a big savings.

On HSA, Iphone, App Store

It is the tax season month again and I got curious by the tip that my friend shared with me regarding health savings account. She said that aside from the fact that it covers expenses not under the coverage of her high-deductible insurance plan, it helps her reduce her tax because HSA gets deducted from her gross income.

I was about to read more about it while I was waiting for my husband but then I remembered that I wanted to try to install the iCamcorder, an Iphone application available from the App Store to record videos. It even has zoom and different effects and it moves the videos to my camera roll so I can easily download the video and upload it to Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, etc.

My good friend Kathy shared information about this application and after I read its features I got really excited. So when I found the time to go online via WiFi using my Iphone I quickly search for it in App Store. Sadly, it is only available for Iphones with OS ver 3.1 and mine is only 3.0. The last time I upgrade my OS, I have to do several steps to jail break it again so I can use it with my sim card and all my pictures and contacts got erased so I am quite hesitant to upgrade my OS again this time.

But I really love to have a video recorder on my Iphone so I can record videos of B while she does her tricks. Maybe I just have to bug hubby and asked him to back up everything on my Iphone and upgrade my OS. LOL.

New Look at Gold

What comes to mind when you hear the word GOLD? As for me, all I can think of are jewelries, accessories, fashion, etc.

But then after talking to my friend who is into gold investment and after reading the website of United States Gold Bureau, it changed my views about gold and it made me realize that it is time to buy gold bullion.

Gold is a very wise investment, as it doesn’t depreciate in time. It is also offers investors flexible options for investment as investors can select to invest either in coins or gold bullion. It can also be easily stored and transported and since it is widely accepted, it can be easily converted to cash.

New investors like me need not worry since the experts of United States Gold Bureau can help me with my decision and get the best gold value the market has to offer. With the current status of our economy right now, which is really unstable and unpredictable, investing in gold is a very wise move.
