For 2012

What’s your New Year’s resolution? I don’t actually make one as I always end up not fulfilling it anyways so I said to myself, why bother. I just try to live my life to the fullest and I always make sure that I don’t hurt anyone along the way as I fulfill my goals and aspirations.

But if there is one thing that I would like to prioritize for 2012 it is to organize and arrange our new home. We moved there around August and it has been 4 months already and we still have boxes lying around that needs to be unpack. I also want to purchase tools that will help us with our cable management system so cables from our Internet connection, TV, DVD players, etc will not look messy and disorganize.

We should also start to de-clutter and we should learn to let go those stuff that we no longer need or use and donate it or even sell it to earn extra money. I know my daughter has tons of clothes that no longer fit her and I am sure will be put to good use if I donate it.

This is just one of the simple goals that I want to achieve for the year 2012.

For Hubby's Birthday

It just a few days away before we say goodbye to 2011 and welcome 2012. But on January 1, 2012, my family is not only celebrating the New Year but the birthday of hubby as well.

I have been very busy that I was not able to get something for hubby as our present for him until now. Actually, I don’t even have a clue on what to give him. LOL. So far these are the ideas at the top of my head:

1. Buy mini cheesecakes for him and I will order food so we can have a simple celebration at home.
2. Avail of any of the discount vouchers from discount shopping sites for a hotel accommodation in Tagaytay or in any of the hotels in the city.
3. Buy any one of the toys that he likes
4. Or we can just give him a kiss and a hug. LOL (the cheapest and most effective way to make him happy. LOL).

I still have work today and we might go out of town tomorrow so wish me luck if I will still be able to prepare something for hubby.

I found this great deal from Deal Grocer where they are offering an overnight stay for 2 with breakfast in 8 Suites Hotel in Tagaytay at a discounted rate.

8 Suites is one of the newest boutique hotels in Tagaytay so I got really interested as it will be the perfect timing to try out hubby’s suv bike rack and we can use the coupon to avail for an overnight stay on the weekend of my birthday next month.

The rate for this promo is P4,200 nett (Original price for this package is P6,505.40 nett) only and it comes with overnight stay in a Deluxe Suite plus breakfast for two. The voucher can be use for accommodation from January 8 to April 13, 2012 except Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday and all National Holidays.

Hubby actually said yes when I asked for his permission to purchase the voucher but when I checked on the details, check-in can only be done from Sundays to Thursdays only and we would prefer to stay overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

Breakfast with Santa: A Project Pearls Program

My friend Peachy is a Project Pearls Volunteer and Supporter. Project Pearls is the organization helping the families living in Ulingan village in Tondo.

I will be joining my friend and his husband this Saturday for the Christmas party that Project Pearls is organizing for the families in Ulingan. They call the project “Breakfast with Santa” as the party will start at 7:30 AM and they will be giving out Noche Buena packs for each of the family.

There will be 460 kids joining the party on Saturday and my friend and I are thinking what to share for the loot bags that they will be giving to the kids. I found a yo yo factory online and I am thinking to order yo yos as our small gift for the 460 kids in Ulingan.

We haven’t finalized yet what to buy but my husband and I are sure to be joining this party. I met the kids of Ulingan one time and ever since I religiously checked their Face book page to get updates on programs and projects that Project Pearls is organizing for them. I really wanted to extend my own little help and I think my attendance on Saturday, as a volunteer is my first step in achieving that.

The Many Uses of Garment Racks

The use of Garment Racks has evolved over time. It was only used before to hang clothes and is placed in stock rooms of department stores but they have found a new use for these boutique clothing racks.

For a business, they use the racks to hang their clothes for display. They can put the new styles at the front of the stores so clients can take immediate notice of it and thus can help generate sales. Most racks are also mobile so staff can easily move the racks around the store for easily arranging the display and the stocks. Racks also comes in nice designs like the vintage racks coupled with Wooden Hangers to create a unique and stunning store display.

For the home, racks can also be use to create additional storage space. You can put it in one corner of a room and store it in the basement or stock rock where you can hang your off-season clothes. This way, you are freeing up space in your closet for clothes that you will wear often. Racks are also a good tool to organize your stuff as you can install it inside a closet to sort and fix your clothes and other accessories.

Christmas 2011

It is just 20 days to go before Christmas. Have you made plans already for the holiday season? Have you checked for rv repair for those who will be going out-of-town during the holiday season?

As for my family, it has been a tradition for use to hear mass on the eve of Christmas and we will have Noche Buena together as a family. Then on Christmas day, we will have a reunion in our grandparent’s house. Since we just moved in to our new house, the reunion will probably be held in our house this year.

After the reunion from my side of the family, my husband and I together with our two kids will then visit hubby’s side of the family for their get together. Although I am not sure what are their plans for this year as my sister-in-law mentioned that they want to celebrate Christmas at our place too.

Although Christmas is the most expensive time of the year, this is my favorite month as the mood is so festive and you can really feel the spirit of love and sharing. I can’t wait for December 25!!

Wow looks like I will be forced to purchase a voucher from Deal Grocer because of their ongoing promo wherein they will be giving away a round trip ticket for two to Santorini , Greece.

Santorini is now my next dream destination after seeing (and been disappointed with) Paris. But I know this dream might not come true soon as hubby and I are still adjusting to the monthly amortization that we are paying for our house. So when I learned of Deal Grocer’s promo, I vowed that I really have to join.

Every $20 spent in Deal Grocer earns one raffle entry. All purchases must be made from November 1, 2011 up to January 31, 2012. The spending is cumulative and is not on a per transaction basis.

Winner of the raffle will get:
• Round trip airfare from the winner’s country of residence to Athens
• Overnight accommodation in Athens
• Round trip ticket from Athens to Santorini
• 4D3N hotel accommodation in Santorini

Deal Grocer will shoulder even the insurance, visa cost, terminal fees and travel taxes. That is how sweet the deal is.

So from now on, I will not buy any other discount voucher except from Deal Grocer.

Bridal Shower Party Ideas

It is just four months to go before the wedding of my cousin and they are already in their final stretch of the wedding preparations.

The wedding entourage on the other hand is busy helping the couple with whatever they can do with the wedding preparations and of course, my cousin (the sister of the groom) and my sister are now starting to plan the bridal shower for the soon-to-be new member of our family.

We have a lot of options for the bridal shower:

• We can have a wholesome spa party. I know there are a lot of spas who offer home service and party service so we can have it at our place and have the spa staff come to our place and treat each guest with a relaxing spa session.
• Or we can have a rated PG party and invite sexy male dancers to entertain us during the party. We can also buy cupless corset as our gift for the bride. LOL.
• Or we can have a small party at our place where we can plan fun games like a trivia game about the couple, wedding gown making contest made from tissue paper and more.

I can’t remember the last time I attended a bridal shower so I am really excited for this one.

On Marriage and Infidelity

I am a member of one of the forum for married couples where we share anything about married life, parenting, and just about anything under the sun. Lately, I have been reading post about issues of infidelity that some even led to separation and divorce. Well I guess, if the couples relationship and strong from the very beginning, it will be difficult to be shaken by any kind of trials and test.

But it is just sad to think that things like this happen. There are a lot of temptations around and a lot of issues that couples can disagree with and the possibility of divorce and separation is really possible. Just take a look at Kim Kardashian who filed divorce after being married for just 72 days with his basketball player husband, Kris.

That is why I really look upon couples that last and were able to be with each other through thick and thin. Couples like them who reach even just silver anniversary really deserve to celebrate and treat each other with gifts like this nice 25th anniversary gifts from Red Envelope:

For my marriage, I wish that we not only to last until our silver or golden anniversary but I hope that our love will last forever and I know that if we just put God at the center of our relationship, it is really possible.

Let the Xmas Shopping Begins

I can’t believe that it is November already. Where did the past 10 moths go? We were at SM after work today and the malls are already crowded with people starting their Christmas shopping already. I panicked for a bit as this reminds me that I better start with my Christmas shopping soon if I want to beat the Christmas shopping rush.

So I did my Christmas shopping list as soon as we arrived home and as always, I have a very long list of friends, relatives, god child, in-laws and more to buy gifts for Christmas.

But at least as I was able to find these cute personalized pins that I can order for B’s classmates so it is one item ticked off my list.

I am just waiting for my Christmas bonus, which I am hoping to be release next week and I can start with my Christmas shopping already.

Another Party to Plan

It’s been almost 2 months already since we last moved here in our newly bought house. To be honest, hubby and I haven’t planned for a house warming yet since we’ve been so busy for the past months and it took us at least a month to move all our things and do some general cleaning.

But then again, just last night, hubby suddenly mentioned that he wants to have the house warming before Christmas or before the year ends so we can have good vibes and great start for the year 2012.

And since party planning excites me, I immediately made plans first thing in the morning. I called our regular caterers to check their schedule availability and of course their menu. I still don’t have the exact date though but I’m hoping that we will be able to push this through before Bela’s birthday.

I’m really excited and I’m already making a list for the programs and the so called “godparents or sponsors”. I’ve been teasing my sister already that I want matouk bed linens since I’ve been drooling for that even before because of its quality.

Anyway, I can now feel that this will be another busy week for me since I have a house warming party to organize.

Moving On

I am the type of person who rarely brings cash as I always use my credit cards for all my purchases. That is why when my HSBC card got hacked, I got really pissed and scared at the same time because this only means that there is really a security hole that hackers can always attack.

It took HSBC 8 months before they were finally able to settle my issue. I have to call them everyday to follow up and there even came a point that I gave up on them already and stop following up and I just let them handle it. I was surprised one day when I got a call from HSBC to inform me that they already reversed all the charges including the finance charge and late charge. I never really expected that it would get resolve as I never saw a real interest and effort on their part to resolve the issue.

But I am thankful that my nightmare with them is already over. I will just ask my sister to settle the balance for her extension card and it is time for me to say goodbye to HSBC. But like what I mentioned, I am very much dependent on credit cards so I have to look for a new credit card company that I can apply to so I can say goodbye to HSBC and move on from this nightmare.

Congrats

I am so happy for my friend, who happens to be the Godmother of Jacobo, as he just gave birth to his 2nd child last week.

Her eldest is a girl and so when she told me that they are trying to conceive already, she asked for my advice to help her with the Chinese calendar as they wanted to try to have a baby boy for their second child. I got excited when I heard of their plan that I checked the Chinese calendar right away and gave her dates, as suggested by the calendar, where it is possible to conceive a boy.

And I got really excited after 6 months when she told me the news that the ultrasound confirmed that they are having a baby boy for their second child.

My friend is busy now taking care of her son that she monitors him every now and then using her wireless baby monitor. I am also happy for her because she is trying to breast feed her son also, which I highly encourage her to do.

I haven’t visited her yet but I already extended my congratulations to her and her husband and I am sure they are so filled with so much joy and excitement now. I know, because I have two kids too – 1 boy and 1 girl, and they are my constant source of joy and inspiration.

Lechon Party

I don’t think even the best appetite suppressants could have stopped me from eating yesterday. LOL. We had a party at the house of our boss to celebrate the end of the posting season (a busy season for us) and he treated us with a feast starting with spring rolls, vegetable platter and nachos with dip for appetizer, then Cebu’s lechon, chicken adobo, pansit, kilawin for the main course and cakes and fresh fruit for desserts.

The Lechon was so delicious that all of us were quiet while we eat. LOL. I had lechon and rice plus pansit so it was total carbo overload. Then I tried the caramel cake, the carrot cake, the blue berry muffin and fresh fruits for deserts.

I was so full that I did not have room left for dinner that I just skipped dinner and when to bed when I reached room. The boss said that we will have a lot of get togethers like that and we are all looking forward to it.

Citibank Credit Cards + Online Shopping

Yay, Christmas is almost here and I have not yet started on my Christmas shopping. I used to love December and it is even my most favorite month as the mood is so festive and joyous. But now that I am an adult and I am the one who will shop for gifts now instead of waiting anxiously for my aunts and uncles to distribute their gift to us, I started to feel the stress that the busy December month brings.

With all the parties and get together that we have to attend, I am not sure if I will still have time to go to the malls to do my Christmas shopping. So my solution: citibank credit cards + online shopping.

I am browsing the different online shopping sites for great gift ideas for my relatives, colleagues, and friends and I found a lot. I made my list already and all I have to do now is go through the credit card application process to apply for a credit card so I will have a credit card to use for all my online shopping purchases.

This is a win-win scenario for me as I don’t have to go to crowded malls to do my shopping and I can even avail of the best credit card deals at the same time.

My Cousin's Surprise Wedding Proposal to his GirlFriend

Somebody will be wearing lingerie babydolls on their honeymoon as my cousin will soon be getting married.

My cousin proposed to his long time girlfriend and she said yes. Well who could say no to a proposal such as this?

My cousin coordinated with his alma mater as he plans to stage the proposal there. He contacted the school’s Glee Club and he pretended that they will have a program and he will be one of the participants. He asked his girlfriend to come to the practice to watch but to his girlfriend’s surprise, he proposed after he and the Glee Club were done with the song.

They had a lovely dinner after courtesy of the school’s HRM students which was set up at the school’s garden.

What a very romantic and cool way to propose. Way to go cousin and we all can’t wait to see you say I do to Hazel.

Poor Hubby

Hubby has no computer to use, as it has not been working ever since we moved. He checked everything from the audio video cables, the power outlet, the RAM, and the video card (which he suspect is the one causing problem), but still he was not able to make it work.

Then a friend of his suggested that he checks the heat sink of the CPU and to his surprise, he found out that it is loose. After fixing the heat sink, he was able to turn on the computer and work for a bit but then it shuts down by itself again.

If only I can afford a Desktop Apple PC, I would definitely order one, as I know how much hubby needs his own PC. Oh well, he has no choice for now but to wait for my laptop to be free before he can use it to go online.

Wedding in 2012

Just a few months to go and it will be the wedding of my cousin. We all can’t wait, as it has been six years since we last have a wedding in the family. My daughter will be one of the flower girls and I think my boy will be one of the bearers too so all the more I am excited for this wedding.

Another reason why I am excited is I can’t wait to get baby shower invitations for the new babies that will be added to our family. My grand mother has now four greet grand kids and I am sure she is thrilled to have more.

Everything is almost all set for the wedding, as both the couple are hands on when it comes to the preparation. They will have a vintage theme so I can’t wait to shop for the outfit that my husband and me will be wearing for the wedding.

Hope it is March 2012 already. Now who says I am excited?

Looking for Pre-Owned Cars?

We can all agree that car nowadays is more of a necessity than a luxury. For someone like us who works five times a week, having our own car to take us to and from work would be a big convenience and can lessen stress as we don’t have to battle the traffic and people rushing in the subway especially during the rush hour.

That is why my husband and I have been looking for auto usate milano as we are planning to buy a second hand car for us. We were contemplating first if buying a pre-owned car is a wise choice since we can never be sure of its condition and it might end up to be more expensive if we have to constantly send the car for repairs.

But all our doubts have been erased when we learned about Garagedelparco.com. Garagedelparco is the site if you want to find vendita auto usate. They have been in the business since 1978 and is a family run business so the owner manages all the transactions to make sure that only 100% service is being given to their clients.

Since they have been in this business for a long time already, they know the ins and outs of buy and sell of cars. All the pre-owned cars from their store are all in mint condition and are in perfect shape that is why it is like we will be buying a brand new car at a much affordable price.

Now all we have to do is fill up their product inquiry section so we can give our budget and they will send us an email of the cars that they have on sale. How cool is that? We don’t even need to go to their store as we can view everything online.

They also compro auto usate so we might be able to sell them our old car that we can add for the purchase of a much newer model car. Garagedelparco is really our savior. Hubby is really excited as now, there is a better chance that we can get a car in good working condition that is just within or budget.

Our Life Now

I finally find the energy (and I think the courage) to check on our bills for this month and I really want to faint.

Our bills doubled this month because:

• We have to pay for the electricity and water bill of our former house which we rented for the whole month of August
• We also have to pay for the electric and water bill for our new home for the August consumption since the seller left already last August 5 and so we have to pay for whatever bill consumption was left for this month
• We also have to pay for the electric bill of one of the commercial space that we are renting out since the former tenant did not have the decency to pay for their consumption and we don’t know how to contact them since they left our property

Looks like hubby’s plan to check for rims online will have to be postponed for now as we have to pay for these bills first, otherwise it will be cut and electricity and water is very essential.

But I am glad we closed the deal to one of the commercial space that we are renting out so we can use their 2 months down payment for our monthly amortization next month which can be a big help for us.

Long Weekend

It is a long weekend from my part of the world and it is very quiet in twitter so I am so envious as for sure, almost all my friends are out of town. The president declared Monday and Tuesday as a special holiday so it is a four-day weekend for most employees.

Well, I actually don’t have a budget to spend the long weekend out of town or out of the country so my family and I are just at home. That is why I was able to do a lot of work like search about top ten fat burners for the article that I am writing about weight loss, search for possible theme for my daughter’s birthday, look for movers for our house move, and spend time with my kids.

And before I forget, I actually can’t go anywhere because I am contagious, I have sore eyes. LOL. So even if I have a budget, we really have no choice but to stay at home so as not to spread the virus.

Addicted to Artscow

Since workload has been very light the past few months, I have been keeping myself busy creating Photo Books from Artscow.

Almost all my friends have been posting pictures of their photo books, which they ordered from Artscow. So I got really inspired to turn our thousands and thousand of pictures into Photo Books too.

And since Artscow was running a promo that time where they offer their 8x8 30-pages photo book for only $9.99 with free shipping, I joined the bandwagon and started creating photo books of our pictures too.

Since I only have 3 days before the promo ends, I always sleep late to finish my photo book. I should have been checking for Wholesale Insurance, but instead I was at the Artscow site almost the entire night so I can finish at least 2 photo books that I can order under the promo.

And I was so happy because I was able to finish 3 photo books instead of just 2. I can’t wait to see in real life how my Photo Books will turn out.

We're Off to The Beach

We’re off to the beach next Friday and I am so excited for many reasons:

1. I am excited because this is the first out of town trip that I will be spending for three days with my online buddies Peachy, Joy, Jody, Mich with their families.
2. It is the first time for me and my family at Shangri-La Mactan and with the raves that I heard from Peachy, my family and I are all excited.
3. I badly needed this break even just for three days to stay away from all the stress that I am feeling at home and at work.

Everything is almost set for this trip as we already have dining vouchers at Shangri-La, we also booked our accommodation and airfare already and I am done shopping for the attire that I will bring with me for this trip. If only my sister is engaged with her boyfriend, then I guess that the only thing that we have to prepare is engagement ring insurance to be sure that her ring won’t get lost just like what happened to hubby’s wedding ring when we last went to the beach.

So just a few days away and we will soon enjoy the sun (hopefully) and the sand as we invade Shangril-La Mactan.

Sofitel's Spiral: Buy 10 & Pay 6 Eat-All-You-Can Promo

One of the best buffets I have tried is Spiral’s buffet. They have a wide range of dishes from Chinese, Indian, Thai, Japanese, European, Middle Eastern and even Filipino. Hubby and I tried dining in at Spiral during our 6th Wedding Anniversary and we really enjoyed it.

That is why when I learned that they have an on going promo, I got really interested especially since my aunt’s birthday is coming soon and this promo is perfect for my big family.

Sofitel's Spiral: Buy 10 & Pay 6 Eat-All-You-Can Promo

This promo is valid for lunch only and you have to buy the vouchers directly from Spiral by looking for Ms. Cory or by bank deposit through BPI.

With this promo, you will just be paying for the lunch buffet for only P1,244 nett per person instead of P2,073 so you will only have to pay P12,440 nett for 10 persons to avail of Spiral’s buffet. Very good deal indeed.

Hong Kong This December?

Oh no, I just got a text from my cousin and it is about the latest promo from Cebu Pacific. The airfare from Manila to Hong Kong is on sale and is only at P999. Travel period is until December 14 so it will be a perfect pre-holiday getaway for all of us.

My budget is quite tight now as we have to pay a lot of dues from our credit card after our US trip and our monthly amortization for our housing loan and so I am thinking now if I should get a payday loan for this.

I remember the last time I went to Hong Kong with all my cousins was last 2008. We had so much fun as we are all always on the go. We even were able to have a day tour in Macau and visit Macau Tower and the Venetian Hotel.

I will talk to hubby about this so we can avail the promo before tickets run out.

Bangkok Promo Tour from AsiaTravel

The past few months has been a very busy and stressful month for me that is why I wanted to plan even just a short vacation with hubby and the kids to just relax and have fun.

I am already dreaming about the beach, the hot tub cover at BeyondNice.com, the yummy food, the shopping and more. So I got really excited when I saw that Asiatravel is having a promo for a 3-day, 2-night hotel accommodation with airfare, city tour and temple tour in Bangkok.

This package includes a round trip airfare via Thai airways, two nights hotel accommodation with daily breakfast, airport transfers, and half-day city and temple tour on the second day. The cheapest package for twin sharing is $381 per person and their hotels range from 2-star to 5-star hotels.

I have never been to Bangkok and I heard that it is a very nice place to enjoy the beach, go shopping and have some food tripping so hopefully this plan will really push through.

Gain my Confidence Back

It has been a year since I gave birth to my youngest child but as I look in the mirror, I still have e very big tummy. Sometimes I will meet up with friends and relatives and they will ask me if I am pregnant again as my tummy is still big that it makes it look like I am still pregnant. In public places, I will get special treatment from strangers or in public transportation; I will be offered a sit in a bus or train because strangers think that I am pregnant.

Those special treatments are nice but all the more it will make me feel better if I am really pregnant, but I am not. This really made me realize that I need to do something to loose those unwanted bulges. It is not just a matter of being vain but I think I will have more confidence and trust in myself if I look better, right?

That is why I got really interested with Los Angeles tummy tuck and I am considering this to help me with my problem. I read a lot of good reviews about Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery, a center that offers this service.

Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery offers a lot of cosmetic surgery like beverly hills breast augmentation, face lift, liposuction, and even Botox. All their procedures are perfectly safe, as patients will have a consultation first with their plastic surgeon to suggest the best procedure for the patients. The procedure only requires a few days for recovery and it can be done as an out patient. They also administer anesthesia to reduce the pain during the procedure, which is administered by an anesthesiologist.

I feel that cosmetic surgery Los Angeles is my answer to gain my confidence back and to help me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight soon.

On Our Move & Dogs

In a month, we will be moving to our new house. As much as we want to bring our Labrador and shitzu dogs in our new home, I am still thinking if we should bring them home with us from Bulacan. They are a little difficult to take care of because they are huge dogs and they are not well trained yet so they pee and poop anywhere. I wonder though if there is something for dogs like the cat urine odor removal that my friend is using for her cat.

My dad just so love his dogs and so does B. We actually have a space at the garage since it can accommodate two cars and we only have one car so we can put a cage for the dogs at the back of the garage. I am just worried of the cleanliness but we can hire somebody to do the cleaning every week.

But nothing is still definite for now. We will play it by ear when we move and see what we can do and cannot do.

This is perfect as we are really planning to have canvasses printed so we have our family portrait that we can display in our living room as we move to the new house. And with just $20, we can get the portrait that we need for our living room without costing us as I know how expensive canvasses can be.

Thanks to Artscow, I will surely not miss this great promo from them.

Ocean Park's Mid Year Savers

One of our favorite theme parks here in Manila is Ocean Park. One reason is that it is very convenient for us to go there as it is just a few minutes drive from our house. Second is, it is a world class theme park as you can compare it with Oceanarium of Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and even the US. Plus our daughter just loves animals and so she never gets tired of going to Ocean Park even if she has been here a number of times already.

That is why I always look forward to promos of Ocean Park as their entrance fee is not cheap. Well actually it is worth it already as you can do a lot inside like they now have a sea lion show (but I like the Sea Lion Show in Ocean Adventure than the one that they have), they have a Jelly Fish Museum and they even have swimming pools now.

For this month, they have released new Midyear Savers so you can save a lot on entrance fees to enjoy all the amenities of the park. Just check out this flyer that they sent me:

We will definitely avail of this promo and bring the kids one weekend to Ocean Park.

Green is Love

My friends are all going crazy now as a friend of ours just posted some bags for sale in Instagram. The terms are really good: cheap prices (it’s like she is giving away her bag to us) and we can pay in installment.

I was just lurking and I have no intention of buying until she posted this:

An LV Epi Petit Noe in green. The price is so irresistible and if I will just sacrifice some of my vices like dining out in malls, I will be able to afford to pay for the monthly payment to my friend.

I was actually planning to buy gold chains and earrings but now I am thinking if I will hold this for now and just settle for he LV Noe first. Just like what my friends who owns an Epi Noe told me, an Epi is an Epi. It has a classic beauty and every LV lover should own one.

I just checked my friend’s IG page and the bag is still available….for now. I will have to think it over first tonight and hopefully it is still available when I make up my mind.

Revisiting His Roots

Two weeks ago, we were able to go to hubby’s hometown for the 1st death anniversary of my mother-in-law. My husband was so glad to be back in his hometown as it definitely brings back memories of his childhood and of his mom.

Hubby is so happy too because they renovated their house there and he was pleased with the pergo laminate flooring that they installed for their floors. He is happy because it did not cost them an arm and a leg for the flooring but he is satisfied with the elegance that it brought to the house. My husband kept on saying that his mom would definitely be happy if only she can see it now for herself.

It was a good three days spent at hubby’s hometown. It was a perfect opportunity for the kids to connect to their roots and I am sure hubby is happy that even just for a brief period, he was able to feel like home again.

No Sun, All Rain

It’s the time of the year again when we can finally bid goodbye to the hot summer. But how I wish I live in a city where I can wear womens boots to gear up for the cold weather because in my part of the world, after summer comes the typhoon season.

We actually have one typhoon now and is affecting the western part of the country. PAGASA was saying that there is no storm signal raise in Manila but it has been raining the whole day and there was heavy downpour late in the afternoon that is why streets are all flooded on our way home.

My dad fetched me from work, as he knows that I will have a hard time going home with this weather if he does not fetch me but we were caught in traffic and got stuck in flooded streets. B was actually crying already as she saw the gloomy surrounding: there was zero visibility because of the heavy rain and we were surrounded by water because of flood. What normally took us only 1 hour of commute to and from home took us 4.5 hours because of the heavy traffic.

The rain has stopped already and hopefully we will finally see Mr. Sun tomorrow.

June is the month where majority of my family members are celebrating their birthday:

June 10: My sister Vj
June 19: My cousin Aliah
June 21: My brother Jp and Jacobo
June 30: My grand mother, Lydia

We just had a small party at my grand mother’s house yesterday to celebrate the birthday of my cousin, and tomorrow we are having a party again to celebrate the birthday of my brother and my son. (This reminds me that I should wrap the xbox and xbox 360 hdmi cable that I bought online as our gift to my brother). My aunt for sure will cook something for the occasion and I will just order cake for my brother and my son.

After tomorrow, the next celebration will be grandest as it is the birthday of our favorite grand mother (who all took care of us when we were kids), my Nanay Lydia.

Miley Cyrus Live in Manila

The famous teen singer Miley Cyrus just had a concert here in Manila last week and I was so surprised at how much fan she has. Well according to the news, she has a lot of fans that if they are a country, they will be the second country with the largest population.

My cousin is a fan of Miley and she would have wanted to watch her perform live. Unfortunately, the ticket is so expensive (I think VIP seats starts at P7,000) and if we buy the general admission seats, we might need to bring marine binoculars as it will be too far already from the stage.

Gosh, I don’t know why ticket prices for concert nowadays are this expensive. I remember when we watched the John Mayer concert, we paid around P3,000 per ticket and it was not even close to the stage. Plus the venue most of the time is at MOA concert grounds which is an open field and is not safe from the rain (which is what happened during the John Mayer concert).

But I am glad my cousin just got contented in watching Miley’s video in You Tube as there is really no way we can afford to buy her a ticket for the concert. LOL.

I opened my email this morning and found this gift from my good friend Peachy sitting in my Inbox:

Thanks Mare for this.

50% off at Boracay Sands Hotel

Who says Boracay is only for summer when great seals like this are available?

50% off at Boracay Sands Hotel

You only get to pay P6000 instead of P12,000 for three days and two nights stay in Boracay Sands Hotel for two and it even comes with daily breakfast. This voucher is valid until September 15, 2011.

I actually have been to Boracay during the lean season and I like it better compared to the crowded summer months. If we will not be going to Cebu this coming August, I might consider this offer as it has been more than three years since I last step my foot in Boracay.

But my Twitter friends are planning a Bora trip next year (and hopefully we can afford to stay in Shangri-La) so maybe I should just wait for that.

Next Stop: Bicol

After our 3-week US vacation, our next trip will be this coming June 30 to the hometown of my husband in Bicol. It is actually not a vacation per se as we will be there to celebrate the 1st death anniversary of my mother-in-law.

We will be flying via Cebu Pacific on the 30th. It is a 16 hours or more drive from Manila if we will not be flying so I wouldn’t dare subject my kids to that long drive, especially since there are no good roadside assistance in that area (not like the good road assistance that Good Sam is offering) and I am scared and paranoid of the numerous bus accidents there also. Good thing I was able to avail of Cebu Pacific’s promo so I was able to pay for less than P300 only for our airfare.

We will be staying in Bicol until July 2 so we have one whole day on July 1 to explore Bicol again. I might be able to meet up with Diane and her family also, my Bebot friend who is base in Bicol.

I love to travel and explore new places. I must say that hubby and I have done a great deal of travelling already. We have been to North America, Asia, Europe and hopefully someday we can cover all the continents. But if there is one thing that I would love to try next, then it will be a Cruise.

And so I got really excited when I read this promo from Star Cruises (though it is actually a bad timing since we just got back from our US vacation so we are still recuperating from the expenses that we incurred while we are in the US. But at least this is a good sign that they are starting to give out promos like this):

Link Between Topamax & Cleft Lip

Topamax is known as a substance that may be use as an anti convulsant to help remedy epileptic individuals. It is usually use to reduce pain from extreme cases of headaches such as migraine. But did you know that expecting mothers are presented with a threat if they take Topamax to cure either epileptic convulsions or migraine? Numerous studies have recently been completed that shows the relationship of Topamax with labor and birth problems, for example cleft lip or cleft palate. The problem can be a tiny, notched lip or in really painful situations, could cause a wide open groove from the roof of the mouth to the nostril.

Numerous studies have proven this fact and because of this, legal professionals from O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath law agency offers their particular service to aid mothers and fathers with children which has been a prey of Topamax to file for a Topamax lawsuit.

Allow us to admit it, submitting a product or service responsibility claim is not easy therefore we'd like specialist assistance to triumph the case and acquire damages claims. For this reason affected individuals really should seek out the help of legal professionals connected with O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath - Personal Injury Lawyers - 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 - 512-494-9949 because they know the ins and outs when it comes to this type of cases.

January Wedding

My cousin will be getting married this coming January. Everybody is so excited as this is the first wedding in our family after my wedding six years ago. I think the couple are now busy preparing for their wedding:

- they started to look for a reception venue already
- they already booked their church venue
- they already checked out portfolios of raleigh wedding photographers
- they are now looking for their couturier
- they already talk to our cousin who is an event stylist to dress up the venue

My cousin and I will be helping them in the wedding preparation as the couple knows how addicted we are to wedding preparations and we know where to get good deals from wedding suppliers.

Their wedding is just a few months away and I know time moves fast so we really need to start working so we can give the couple the wedding of their dreams.

2-Hour scuba Diving Intro Lesson from Scuba World

My hubby has long wanted to try scuba diving but classes can be so expensive so being the responsible father that he is, he will set aside his desire to learn how to scuba dive in exchange for the needs of his family.

So I got really excited when I saw this promo online: For only P997, hubby can get a 2-Hour Scuba-Diving Introductory Lesson conducted by a PADI-Certified Instructor at Scuba World Greenhills. This is valued at P2,500 so you can get instant 60% off.

This lesson will teach the basic know-how in scuba diving and safety skills to boost confidence underwater. I am sure my husband would love to try this 2-Hour course so he can get to experience and try how scuba diving is and when we have extra budget already, then that is the time he can enrol to the full scuba diving class.

The Culprit: On Sale Food Vouchers

I will really need to review lipozene side effects as I think I need help in loosing weight because of all this promos that I kept on receiving in my email for food vouchers from various restaurants around the metro like:

• 50% off at Florabel Restaurant
• 50% off at Xocolat Café

So who can resist great deals such as this? Now hubby and I know why it is very hard for us to loose weight.

No Diet

And so I thought I will loose weight during this trip but I was wrong as I will need the top 10 weight loss tips to get me back into shape before Jacobo’s birthday.

Every time hubby and I travels, we are always on the run that we only eat hotdogs from the hot dog stands that we see on the street as we always want to make the most of our time. But since we are travelling with my mom and our two kids this time, we really have to stop to grab a bite. Also, since we are staying with our friends during the entire leg of this trip, they always prepare either Filipino food or Chinese food (which always include rice) so we still have carbo overload.

But I guess we really need to eat as we need all the energy from the fatigue that we are getting from all this travelling.

Sickies

My kids getting sick is one of my biggest fears for this trip. I prayed hard but I guess fatigue, change of time zones and extreme weather condition can really take a toll on our body that is why my two kids got sick during our vacation.

First was Jacobo who got diarrhea with fever on our second day in New York. I really feel guilty and I regretted bringing my kids to this trip but thankfully, his fever was gone the next day.

Next was B during our stay in Canada. She got stomach flu that she vomits every time she drinks milk. She even have rashes and fever also.

I monitored their condition the whole night when they got sick. Thankfully I got a reliable thermometer which I loaded with good batteries which I got from the online store where I buy makita batteries so I was able to check their temperature round the clock.

We have four days left before we go back to Manila. I really enjoyed this trip and this quality time with my family but I am glad that we are finally going home, back to our comfort zone.

What Doximity Can Do

Do you suffer from migraine? Well if you do, you are probably taking Topamax. Topamax is a medicine use to treat migraine. It is also an anti convulsant use to treat epileptic patients. But what most of us don’t know is that it has been proven to increase the risk of causing birth defects when moms take this drug when they are expecting. Such birth defects can include cleft lip.

I have been doing some reading and I confirmed that there are a lot of victims caused by side effects from taking different medicines. It could be the fault of the manufacturer for failing to put additional information on the drugs that they are producing, it could also be the fault of the doctor who prescribed the medicine to the patient.

But if only physicians can have easy access to information such as this from the internet or by simply communicating with their colleagues, then chances of these kinds of problems will be lessen and this is the aim of the application Doximity.

Doximity is an application available on smart phones and even via Internet that lets a private network of physician consult with each other. They can do a lot of things with Doximity like check profile of a particular physician like Phillip Porch MD, send an instant message to a colleague, share information and many more.

With Doximity, doctors can communicate with each other faster and easily, which can lessen chances of committing medical mistakes.

@ 159 Pounds

159 Pounds

That is hubby’s weight when he weighed in as he joined their company’s Biggest Looser contest. I think they have more than a month to loose weight, but from the rate that hubby is loosing weight, I think he will be at the bottom of the biggest looser for this contest. LOL. Unless he tries to buy apidexin to help him loose weight fast.

But I will not be surprise if he will not win this contest as he did not actually change his eating habit or his lifestyle. He still eats the same amount of carbo (which is like minimum of 1 cup per meal) and he still does not go to the gym so I am sure he will still be at 150 pounds ++ on their final weigh in. LOL.

But he still has a month to loose weight and maybe the cash prize can help him get motivated.

Bags: Check
Lunch Box: Check
Books: Check
School Supplies: Check
soccer socks: Check
Rubber Shoes: Check

I am glad that even though we are away, things are all ready for B for her school opening. I was able to do some shopping here in the US for the school stuff that she needs like her bag, lunch box and juice bottle as well as the white rubber shoes that she needs for PE. And then my sister took care of enrolling her and buying the other school supplies from St Scholastica.

So hopefully B will be able to adjust to the time as soon as we get back as she only have one week (I think) to rest and recover from our travel before she goes back to school.

Busy June

June I think will be my busiest month. In fact I am so dreading June because I am sure I will all be stress out with everything that I will need to attend to this June:

• Jacobo’s First birthday: Jacobo will be turning one this coming June 21 and we will have a party with our friends and relatives on June 25. Almost everything is setup already but there are still a few minor details that I need to iron out before the party.
• Our Move to our new house. The seller of the house promised that we can move in by end of June. I am excited as this is our dream home but I realized that moving houses is such a big job especially now that we have a lot of stuff already from our old house. How I wish moving houses is as quick as building a home using mobile homes then I will not be this stress out.
• Start of school for B. I haven’t even shopped for her school supplies but I already asked a favor from my sister if she can go to B’s school on May 16, which is the schedule of enrolment, to enrol B for Sr. Prep
• Deadline for my Performance Appraisal. I was not able to finish my performance appraisal before I took a 3 week vacation leave, so it will be crunch time to beat the deadline when I return back from work come June 2.

So a lot of major things will happen to our family this June, so I hope I can get myself together to successfully accomplish everything

For Mother's Day

Oh my gosh, I am so bad that I did not remember that it is Mother’s Day on Sunday. So how will you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Since we will be leaving on Saturday, we need to celebrate Mother’s Day in advance. I don’t need any fancy gift for my mom since she will be coming with us for our vacation and that is our Mother’s Day and Birthday gift for her. So I am planning to just order a bouquet of flowers for my mom, my grand mother and my two aunts. This is what I always do every mother’s day, I always give gifts to all the moms in my family as I know how special this day is for them so this is the perfect time to acknowledge all that they have been doing as a great mom.

Thankfully, I can still save even if I have to order for all the moms in my family by using the ProFlowers radio promo code that I got from Rush Limbaugh to Mike and Mike show. I also checked out the site of ProFlowers and they have other promo codes too that I can use.

I have to place my order today so the flowers will arrive in time before our flight on Saturday so we can still celebrate Mother’s Day even if we are away.

Looks like I will need acne treatment as I am sure to have acne breakouts again after this week because of stress. Just look at my schedule for this week:

Monday: Work and then I have to pick up the temp nanny that we will be getting from Sister Flor to help my mom take care of the kids while we are waiting for the return of our original nanny.
Tuesday: Work and then go to SM after work to do some shopping for the stuff that we will be need for our vacation.
Wednesday: Work and then go to Binondo to shop for Eng Bee Tin hopia for the friends that we will be visiting in the US.
Thursday: Work and then help hubby pack his stuff as he is scheduled to leave on Friday and if I still have time, I might go to a salon for hair cut and pedicure.
Friday: My last day of work so I am sure I will be very busy then I have to pack our stuff for our flight on Saturday.

But I am excited still as this is an ultimate dream vacation for our family.

Tons of Free Software for Use

I was just watching the news and was saddened when they feature the plight of our educational system here in the Philippines. With the advent of computer and Internet, there are still some public schools who don’t even have a computer room where the kids can learn.

If only our government can pool something to have a budget for at least the hardware and then they can just load it with free open source software so the students can have the basics on how to use the computer and the Internet.

Here are just some of the free and downloadable software that can be use by public schools:

1. Open Office. This suite is like the Microsoft and Word Perfect suite which can be use for word, spreadsheet and presentation processing.
2. Free Graphics Software Blender. Blender is a graphic application software that can be use to create 3D graphic animations.
3. File Sharing Software like Ares and Amule. Both of this software are downloadable and can be use to teach the concept of file sharing, networking, and peer-to-peer concept.
4. Audio Software like Audacity. This is free open source software that can be use for editing and recording audio sounds.
5. Media Player like BS Player which can play videos in any format.

These are just some of the few free software that can easily be downloaded for use and I am sure there are more.

Nanny Woes

My nanny left last night for a one week vacation a week before we leave for our US trip She had an accident the other night when she slipped while walking. She thought that she was pregnant as she was delayed for two months and so when she had bleeding the morning after the accident, she thought she had miscarriage.

My parents brought her to the doctor and it was verified via ultrasound (which was done two times) and a pregnancy test that there was no sign that she was pregnant or she had a miscarriage. The bleeding that she experience was just her regular menstrual period.

And so I thought she will cancel her initial plan of taking a week off because she was never pregnant and she did not have any miscarriage after all. At least not before we leave as she can take three weeks off with pay, while we are on vacation.

I understood her plight as she maybe is still depressed. Maybe she feels sad because she was expecting a baby or maybe she still thinks that she is pregnant and she does not want to believe the tests and the doctor.

This would have been my time to feel excited for the trip. I can actually imagine the POS systems in the Outlet stores that we will be visiting in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York. I can already imagine the tours that we will be joining. I can already imagine the happiness on my kids’ face as they will surely have fun in this trip. But instead I have more than a week left to feel stress because I don’t have a nanny to take care of my two kids will I go to work.

But at least my parents are with us to support us and I know things happen for a reason. And it is just a week. I am sure we can deal with this.

Reflections

Holy Week is a great time for us to reflect on our lives. I was crying this morning when I saw a video of a child who has a congenital heart disease. I was deeply touched and moved by her story because my daughter also has the same heart condition although we are just lucky because she did not need to have an operation.

All the more now I feel blessed and thankful for all the blessings that God has given us. We are lucky because our daughter was healed through His miracles while there are some families who can’t even afford to go to the doctor to have their condition check. There were even some who have to consult a lawyer like the attorneys of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath law firm so they can get help in filing for a Crestor lawsuit as they believe that their heart condition was triggered after taking the medicine Crestor, a medicine use to treat high cholesterol. At least if they consult with O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath, they will be guaranteed to have a good support to help them win the case and get a just settlement.

Everyday is a blessing from God and so we should live our lives in a way that we are making good use of that blessing.

Have a blessed and meaningful Holy week everyone.

The Royal Wedding

I am so excited for April 29 to watch the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. I am sure everybody will be tuning in to watch out for it as it will be the wedding of the decade for sure.

Not much information is given about the wedding. All we know for now is that the service will be held at Westminster Abbey. After the service, there will be a wedding procession and will past some of London's most famous landmarks. Of course the reception will be held at the Buckingham Palace to be hosted by her Majesty, the Queen.

I wonder how their first night will be. Will she wear those sexy nurse lingerie on their first night? LOL. Kate and Prince William have been going out for eight years before the prince finally asked for Kate’s hand to marry him in the holy sacrament of matrimony. Their love story is very interesting knowing that Kate is just a commoner but she came from a family whom they say are self made millionaires. She and her siblings all went to good schools and that is where Kate met Prince William.

All invitations have been sent already and looks like everything is all set for the wedding. Now I can’t wait to see how a modern Royal Wedding goes.
